The temperature range for which it is designed is from -50 to + 650º C. It can be used to paint indoor structures, outdoor grills, barbecue ovens, sauna stoves, chimneys and metal fittings.

  • It can cover not only brick and metal, but also concrete or asbestos-cement slabs. Another advantage of this composition is the widest range of colors among heat-resistant paints. Almost all the primary colors of the rainbow are represented here, from black or red to yellow and blue.
  • Enamel KO-8101 is good, but its price is quite high. Our grandmothers did not know what heat-resistant paints for brick stoves were, so they painted their stoves with chalk or lime, sometimes they painted them with national ornaments. But first things first.

The simplest homemade paint

  • If grandmother's recipes are not suitable, and the price of heat-resistant compounds "bites", then paint for a brick oven can be prepared by hand. To do this, take PF-283 varnish and mix 1: 1 with turpentine or solvent.

  7. - after the preparation of the joints, the surface is left to dry completely and a stabilizing solution is applied. The solution is applied in a thick layer, left for some time until it is completely absorbed.
  8. - similar solutions have different compositions... And if you chose an oil-based mixture, then keep in mind that it heavily pollutes the room, so it is better to perform all procedures in special glasses and protective clothing. It is necessary to process the entire surface with a solution, not excluding the masonry itself and the seams.
  9. - then, at a temperature of at least fifty degrees Celsius, we apply a water repellent. At the same time, the surface must be dry, since a small part of the water repellent on the wet can get under the bricks and cause the surface to crumble. To apply the mixture, use a roller or brush, while water should not penetrate into the coating.
  10. - the application of the water repellent is carried out carefully so that there are no smudges, but if smudges nevertheless form, they can be removed immediately with a rag. - the mortar for grouting should have a low moisture content, otherwise it will not adhere well. As in the previous case, the mixture should be homogeneous, it is better to sift it through a sieve before cooking. Features of heat-resistant paint for stoves and fireplaces

The stove is a construction of bricks and stones, to which cast iron elements (doors, barriers, frames, covers and other elements) are added. If you wish, you can paint the entire hearth, but the choice of paint must be approached responsibly. For example, many of them indicate what materials they are suitable for. But this must be checked by clarifying the composition and properties of the paint. Surely you will not be able to do with just one can, since the materials used when laying the stove have a different structure, which means that the requirements for the coloring composition will be different.
Any brick oven varnish contains silicone or silicon. Paint for fireplaces and stoves must withstand temperatures up to 600 degrees, but some manufacturers claim that their compositions do not lose their properties even at 700 degrees. These figures are quite suitable, since the combustion temperature of wood is 300 degrees.

Only coal is able to heat up to a temperature of 900 degrees, but it will be observed only on the surface of the material, and much less heat is transferred to the walls of the furnace. For this reason, it is important to study the composition of the paints, because it will be necessary to use several solutions at once to paint several different parts of the structure.

If the hearth is on the street, then it is necessary to use paint with high anti-corrosion properties - this will prevent the appearance of rust due to exposure to moisture. However, it should be borne in mind that concrete and metal products contain different components. You can also use a universal thermal paint that can be used to cover various materials. It forms a thin film on their surface that protects against moisture, air and other factors that lead to rust.

What are heat-resistant paints for?

Thermal paints are capable of protecting materials at high temperatures. Silicon-based formulations are good. They are also used when painting heat exchange equipment or heating equipment, the temperature of which is higher than that of the walls of the furnaces.
The properties of paints are significantly affected by aluminum powder - thanks to this component, the product is able to withstand temperatures of 600 degrees.

Such materials serve not only for decoration, but also to increase the functionality of the stoves, contributing to a smooth temperature distribution throughout the structure, thereby avoiding overheating. This is of particular importance for metal welds which begin to melt when exposed to heat. In addition, the paint serves as protection against saline solutions, oil products, as well as high humidity, while maintaining vapor permeability.

Paint application

Painting of fireplaces requires preparation, just like any other construction work. First you need to make sure that you bought the exact composition you need.

You also need to prepare the following tools:

  • soft rag;
  • sandpaper;
  • water;
  • brush;
  • roller;
  • copper sulfate solution;
  • sulfuric acid solution;
  • spray.
First, the surface to be painted is prepared. It is cleaned of dust and dirt. Metal parts are cleaned with fine sandpaper. Be sure to remove greasy stains with a soft cloth dipped in a solution of water and salt. Soot can be easily removed with a solution of hydrochloric acid, and rust - with a 10% mixture of copper sulfate.

It is recommended to apply the paint on a slightly warm surface with a brush, roller or spray - whichever is more convenient. In total, you need to make 2-3 layers, each of them must be allowed to dry well before applying the next one. Within a few days, the hearth must dry; it cannot be used until the paint has completely hardened.

Paint application on metal surfaces

First, the metal elements are cleaned with sandpaper, and the walls of the fireplace are cleaned of dust with a damp cloth. Metal dampers are treated with a 5% sulfuric acid solution and a pile brush. It is necessary to work with acid with gloves. The remains of the composition are washed off with soapy water - first with a cloth, and then with a rag.
The fireplace is painted after it has been heated to 150 degrees. Then sodium hydroxide solution (50 g / l) is applied using a spray gun for one and a half hours. Then the hearth should stand for a couple of days. When applying paint to a warm surface, do not use a brush.

If the hearth is not folded too correctly (for example, the masonry is uneven), then the surface must be plastered with lime-gypsum mortar in several layers, preheating the furnace to 150 degrees.

When painting, it is important to remember the safety rules: work with gloves and only in a well-ventilated area. It is also necessary to avoid getting paint and other products on the skin or in the eyes.
