The best survival games on pc. The best survival games on pc. Video game Terraria

A lot of zombies divorced in the past 2013-14s, a lot has changed in the Survival genre since then. Then survival for us was in the world of zombies, but now everything is different. We can meet a lot of good and bad, worthy of purchase, and not even Torrent worthy "survivalists". Now "survival" goes around the world on the islands, in the forests, but with various mixes of the past and the future. Welcome and if you want to take a dip in hard world, where you need to apply all the skills of survival, then you are here.

(If you didn't like the games that are included in the "Top", write the games that, at your discretion, should be on the list.)

P.Zomboid - an indie game released in 2013, you will play the role of a survivor, you are alone in this world against zombies that react to the sound of your walking, to the light that comes from your house or a lantern. You can play with friends, which will greatly facilitate the passage. the maps are large, but there are not too many of them, you can spend a lot of your effort studying one map, that's just ... if there was transport.

the game has a lot of interesting things that await you. By the way, in addition to the usual wandering around the map, you can get comfortable in one place, build or strengthen a house, make a garden and periodically go out for reconnaissance, since hordes of zombies can appear at any moment, it would be better to distract them with something, so that they would not walking in the direction of your house.

Although the game was released in the same 2013, compared to that alpha, the game has changed noticeably. In addition to the interesting chuckle of DayZ and minecraft game brought with it a very pleasant feeling. In addition to the new brought graphics, the player will receive much more crafting opportunities, survival in various conditions: Winter location\Desert\Forest\Steppe. The construction of houses has become much more interesting, because instead of the usual "wooden" and "stone" panels, you can put really strong and beautiful houses.

Many players complain about the requirements of the game, but I hope soon it will be possible to play without fear of "freezing" in the game, because many who have not very powerful PCs also want to try this great game.

This is Survival-Adventure, survival in the open world intersects in it, craft climbed there too, its vastness is not so great, but it has its own worthy sides. You can build an analogue of a "house", fortifications, even traps, it all depends on your discretion.

7 Days To Die - post-apocalyptic Minecraft with more "decent" graphics. The whole game is divided into two stages: Night and day, during the day the infected are slow, and resources are easier to find, and at night you have to look for shelter and defend yourself from crowds of hungry creatures. (The developers were inspired by the movie "I Am Legend")

In addition to this, you will be able to survive in the zombie world with your friends, and also move not on your own two feet, but on decent transport, which I have not been able to find.

Very beautiful game "survival" in the world of dinosaurs + a bit of the future.

At the beginning you create your character, then you survive, tame dinosaurs, fight against predators, fly on a pterodactyl, make weapons, upgrade, fish. You can go to the underwater world, find caves, get resources, fight with players, enjoy a beautiful picture (and freezes).

Zombies and other players won't get you here, but sharks... maybe. A clear advantage of this game is survival on the islands, chop trees, build fruit, move to another island, and on the way you will meet a shark or other sea enemy, pick up coconuts there, come back, make a fire, wait for the morning, and the next day go down to the depths ocean, explore ships, find important items for survival. And don't try your luck by jumping into the ocean at night.

This is a game with a clear allusion to the series Lost, we also suffered a plane crash, various oddities on the island. A game in the spirit of Rust, craft, bet! And then it would be okay, but the gameplay was made very interesting, due to the fact that there is something to do here, in addition to the usual "mining" you can run into a monster, or get into a cave where there are deposits of "yummy", dynamite, or even nasty paintings with dead children and skulls of dead natives and monsters. It would seem that take it and survive, but the collection and spending scheme will not work here, the attacks of natives and monsters will bring various problems, either setting fire to houses, then attacking a monster that kills with 4 hits, then running past an animal that will bring more one monster.

You will move to snowy Canada, defend yourself from the cold and animals, explore open locations, look for various loot, heal with herbs. Battles for survival, every game day new problems, every time a new obstacle, the search for resources, which will result in a good injury or hypothermia, and most importantly, here you will not sit still, all the time you will have to stomp wet boots along a cold path in a mixture of ice and snow, and the cartridge that you decide to save in case can save a life.

3rd place

This War Of Mine

How terrible is that word, isn't it? War! How much pain it brings to the hearts of people, in This War Of Mine we take control of a group of civilians, we have to make moral choices that will affect events, two houses, with groups of 1-5 people, immersion in the atmosphere of the game, sometimes sad moments , each character has his own story, his own problems, but will he be able to survive at a time when fanatics are fighting the army, and civilians are suffering from sniper shooting? It all depends on the player.

(I want to make this game special, as the developers made donations to save 350 refugee children)

Somewhere, but in the world of creepy creatures it’s always hard, you have to move around the map like crazy, kill spiders, tame pigmen, build your own fortifications, look for resources that you need to cook, you can even change your character, each has its own weakness and advantage . Let's not forget hound attacks, movement between worlds, interesting additions that await you in Don "t Starve

The water adventures continue. Plunging into the world of "Subnatics" in the literal sense, you will have to survive in the underwater world on a planet uninhabited by people. The whole feature lies in the atmosphere of the game, because there is something shining below, and there is a giant fish, and then you sink into the depths on the SiMote, enjoy the singing of "sea angels", look at beautiful plants, and then swim with all your might to the base, because Some creature hit you from behind. The game can be scary, because it's one thing to go into a cave, another thing to swim into it, knowing that O2 may not be enough. Build your bases anywhere, explore everything that comes across, you won't get out of the water dry!

Best games where you have to survive against all odds.

The popularity of survival games is easy to understand, because fighting for survival is in our genes. It becomes clear why everyone is so addicted to these games. The best survival games on PC confront players with harsh trials and challenges, and push them to find creative solutions.

Games in this genre have recently made their way into the ranks of the most popular projects on Steam, even taking into account the fact that many of these games have been in early access mode - and some of them for more than a year. The desire to survive is inherent in us at the gene level, and therefore it is not surprising that we are so easily captivated by survival in the virtual world.

But how to find the most worthy projects among thousands of representatives of this genre? We have compiled a list of our favorite PC survival games that take place not only on land, but also under water, in space and in dangerous worlds inhabited by zombies, mutants and even dinosaurs.

Dropped off the main list

Survival on the island, still in Early Access.

Unlike The Forest, the island is uninhabited and there are no naked cannibals to be found on it. Although the coastal waters are patrolled by sharks, they are also, in a sense, naked cannibals.

Survival in the zombie apocalypse, focus on crafting.

As a survivor, you spend precious hours of daylight searching for parts and junk to use against the bloodthirsty hordes of the dead at night.

Zombies, isometric.

To survive, you need to repel the attacks of the dead, find shelter, make tools and weapons for yourself, look for food and at all times maintain a high morale of your character.

A hybrid of survival and rogue-like games in which you have to raft down the river, getting supplies along the way.

A wonderful, challenging and addicting game with nice elements of survival and crafting, but poorly developed controls on the river spoil the impression a bit.

Zombie survival in a big open world.

While this game has gone through some pretty weird metamorphoses in Early Access (originally conceived as a free-to-play game and now comes with a price tag), Just Survive is still fun to play. Very similar to DayZ, but at the same time more accessible, this game offers the usual hunting for resources, fighting zombies and other players (you can team up with the latter if you wish), and all this happens on servers with hundreds of gamers.

In this multiplayer sandbox, everything follows the precepts of the genre: we build bases, craft weapons and tools, fight for regular supplies, and try our best to survive.

Survival, city building and problem solving in a freezing world.

Frostpunk is a mixture of city-building and survival game set in a dark, icy world. You will need to build a functioning city for a bunch of hungry and cold people inside a snow-covered crater, warmed only by a huge coal stove. Collect resources, get food and manage the inhabitants of your city, giving them hope for the future. This is a harsh and beautiful game in which you have to make difficult decisions at every turn.

We survive, we craft, we build - and all this is under water.

Status: early access mode.

Explore Hostile underwater world, while at the helm of a homemade submarine, sailing through the mysterious deep-sea landscapes. Beautiful coral reefs and underwater caves and trenches full of useful resources and food await you. Build bases, create a fleet of submarines and develop existing technologies in every way to survive in the depths of the sea. It's hard not to compare the game to Minecraft, but at the same time, the developer of Unknown Worlds managed to bring a number of unique elements to the established genre.

outside

Fantasy RPG with elements of survival.

Status: Released March 2019.

It will sound strange, but fantasy RPG will die without the possibility - one of the best survival games in recent times. In Outward, you have to fight not only with magical monsters, but also with the world itself, because you need to eat, drink and try not to get sick.

The desert heat will drain you of your strength, the swamp water will poison you, and the lack of fast travel or even showing your position on the map turns any expedition into a test of preparation, waiting and survival skills.

Manage a sci-fi colony inspired by Dwarf Fortress.

The game has been in early access for 5 years, but RimWorld has finally made it to version 1.0. In this survival simulation, you are in control of a colony of random people who roam a procedurally generated alien planet.

Expand the base, keep the physical and mental health of the colonists, cope with the disasters that the AI director throws out at you (the system for generating world events). It can be disease outbreaks, alien attacks, natural changes. The most difficult test may be the simple survival of the colonists with each other, because each has its own personality, desires and behavior.

Raft

Survive on a raft, gradually turning it into a floating fortress.

It sounds almost perfect, serenely floating around the world on a raft, gradually building and expanding it, while catching shipwrecks from the ocean with a fishing hook. There are also hungry sharks. And if they can't eat you, they'll do their best to eat your houseboat.

You need to find food and clean water while keeping your raft afloat and expanding it. Co-op comes to the rescue, because with a partner you double your chances of survival.

Survive the zombie apocalypse by managing a team of survivors.

You don't play State of Decay 2 as an individual, but as a community of people. In the game, you need to make sorties not only for food, water, weapons and equipment, but also for other people. Each character has their own abilities, quirks and traits. Supplies are very limited, so as the settlement grows, more resources are needed to maintain it.

It is necessary to make forays into the vast open world of the American countryside. There is the possibility of co-op, in which players can join and leave at any time.

scum

The prisoners were released onto a deadly island to fight for survival.

Status: game in early access

Scum hasn't been in Early Access for long, so it's hard to say what to expect from this game, but it's already raised the bar for survival gaming. Scum has a ton of information about what you eat, a personalized set of essential vitamins and minerals, and it's all there after you eat it. You also have to go to the toilet.

Tracking heart rate, weight and even the number of teeth, and also takes into account the additional weight of clothing if it gets wet. Scum has many different survival simulations in one.

Atmospheric survival game set in a Canadian post-apocalyptic setting.

Status: early access mode.

With its emphasis on atmosphere and survival in harsh environments, The Long Dark stands out from countless other genres. You will play as a pilot who finds himself in a snowy wilderness as a result of a mysterious global cataclysm. There are no zombies, mutants, or even other players here: you will have to fight with a harsh wildlife and with their own fears.

Watch out for a handful of 3D printed colonists in a dangerous growing underground colony.

Status: early access.

The best games are those that are easy to understand but hard to master. fits that description: it's easy to start playing and learn the basics, but it takes a lot of time and effort to fully learn it. This colony simulator is as delightful as it is deep and challenging as it simulates the harsh underground environment.

You'll have to keep an eye on the colonists' hunger, happiness, cleanliness, and naturally clean and breathable oxygen as they dig caves, collect resources, build machinery, and try to transform the world into a comfortable underground home.

Survive, craft, build - and all this with dinosaurs.

Status: early access mode.

We are thrown practically with our bare hands onto a huge map, where we have to somehow deal with sweltering heat, cold, hunger, dehydration and other players (although there is also a single player mode). To survive, you need to make weapons, build your own home, tame dinosaurs and team up (or fight) with other gamers.

The free Primitive Plus add-on adds variety to the gameplay, and the upcoming DLC called Tech Tier promises to add weapons and gadgets straight from science fiction to the game.

Survive in cartoon wild nature full of beasts and monsters.

Thanks to the combination of amazing design and very gritty gameplay, Don't Starve is an addictive adventure and one of the best survival games (and also one of the few games that managed to get out of the early access mode). The crafting system is as complex as it is fun, and fits perfectly into the gameplay, where busy days give way to deadly nights.

You are waiting for fights with animals (and after a meal from them), the use of science and magic, and, of course, maintaining mental health at the proper level (when it decreases, the character will begin to go crazy). The Don't Starve Together add-on lets you play with your friends.

A real-time strategy roguelike in which you explore spooky derelict spaceships with the help of drones.

Duskers may not feel like a full-blown survival game, given that it's a strategy game about controlling a fleet of drones inside scary spaceships. But the reason you're exploring them is to gather components and fuel, and repair and upgrade your drones so you can continue to travel through space in the hope of finding safety and understanding the reason for the unexplained event that caused the universe to become uninhabited (uninhabited by humans). , at least).

It's really stressful as you have to get yourself into increasingly dangerous situations in the hope of gathering enough resources to survive.

Fight snowstorms, wandering gangs of NPCs, and other players in Manhattan's Dark Zone in search of a cure for your disease.

Status: Released November 2016.

The second addition to The Division gave players not only new content, but also changes in gameplay. Caught in a deadly blizzard, disease-stricken players begin each round armed with only a pistol and low-level gear, and they must travel to the Dark Zone to find a cure and an extraction point.

Meanwhile, they have to survive the terrible cold, enemy gangs and a couple of dozen other players who are in the same predicament.

DayZ

An online survival game with zombies and an Eastern European setting.

Status: early access mode.

Yes, many players are already tired of waiting for multiplayer zombie survival to finally leave the early access mode, and the fact that DayZ is rooted in the ArmA military simulator sometimes confuses newcomers. But at the same time, all the features of the genre in DayZ are performed with dignity: a complex system of nutrition and health maintenance goes beyond the usual set of regular snacks and wound dressings.

Here you will find food and resources in a detailed open world, intense interactions with other players, creating and modifying weapons, and, of course, trying to stay alive for as long as possible: after death, you will have to start all over again empty-handed.

An intense and spooky survival game with multiplayer and mutants.

Status: early access mode.

At first glance, this is one of the DayZ clones that last years a lot of divorced, but Miscreated eventually turned into a high-quality multiplayer game with excellent graphics (the game was created on the Cryengine engine). At the beginning, we get only a flashlight and a couple of items of clothing, and then we will search for weapons and supplies in empty houses and military bases. It is worth being afraid here not only of wild animals and mutants, but also of other survivors.

Terraria in space.

Starbound offers both flights to distant galaxies and the construction of your own small farm, thus combining elements of an intense survival adventure and a leisurely pastime. The pixelated 2D open world is fun to explore, and as you play, you'll encounter peaceful alien NPCs and battle incredibly tough bosses.

There is a competent story campaign with additional quests, and you can go through it at your own pace - the game does not rush anyone. Starbound can be played with friends on separate servers, or by inviting them via Steam to your own playthrough.

Rust

Savages run through the forest and hit each other with stones.

Status: early access mode.

Team up or fight with other players (or try to survive alone), initially using primitive tools and weapons and eventually moving up to firearms and building large bases. Wild animals, hunger and thirst act as enemies here, but the game is sharpened specifically for constant interactions between people, so the main danger will come from dozens of gamers connected to the same server.

Rust is still experimenting with gameplay (they recently removed character levels and the experience system), and we are very interested in where this will eventually lead.

Build, destroy, fight monsters.

You may have heard of her. There are countless game modes in Minecraft: solo, creative, co-op (with friends or random players), exploration mode, or playing any of the thousands of mods on special servers.

Survival elements here still look great to this day: we are talking about well-designed hunger and thirst systems, as well as incredibly well-thought-out crafting and building systems. Immerse yourself in this wonderful cubic world and you won't want to leave it.

A guy who survived a plane crash angered a tribe of cannibals.

Status: early access mode.

As you emerge from the wreckage of the crashed plane, you will soon discover that you are not alone. Creepy cannibals will keep you company on the mysterious island. And while you are trying to find food and resources, as well as building simple tents and log houses, setting animal traps along the way, you will have to defend yourself from the angry and hungry local population. The Forest uses the Unity 5 engine, which provides gorgeous visuals and effects.

Minecraft, side view.

A wonderful, fun (not to mention inexpensive) survival sandbox. Explore randomly generated worlds, collect resources and enjoy a simple yet enjoyable crafting system. Make your way through huge caves, fight monsters, chat with friendly NPCs, build your own hideout and play solo or co-op with friends. It took more than one year to develop Terraria, but the game eventually stood the test of time.

survival in harsh conditions with a focus on the skill system and player-to-player combat (PVP).

Status: early access mode.

Let it not bother you bright style graphics – Hurtworld is more serious than it seems. If you manage to survive the first few hours of looting, fights with mutants and other players, you will be able to build your first base and repair some car found in the area (if, of course, you collect the necessary parts).

Particular attention is paid to the influence of weather - for example, during a snowfall, a piece of meat in a backpack will freeze, and not go bad. And it's quite nice to see some indulgences in a game that is usually not forgiving, such as after death and respawn all weapons remain with you.

Fight for survival in a city torn apart by war.

This War of Mine gives us the opportunity to look at the war not from the eyes of a good soldier, but from the point of view of ordinary people trying to survive terrible events - the game differs from other representatives of the survival genre with a penetrating atmosphere of despair and hopelessness. In an attempt to preserve both the physical and mental health of a group of survivors, you will constantly be faced with a series of difficult choices.

Tense nightly forays in search of food and supplies await you, and no matter what you find, it will never be enough. This is not just a survival game, it is a hard and truthful look at the very essence of war.

Shareware multiplayer survival sandbox.

Status: early access mode.

Unturned is far from the classic conventional free games. Its creator (a teenager) has released more than 150 updates since 2014 for this survival sandbox populated by zombies, which is why the game is so popular - since the first appearance on Steam, it has already been downloaded several million times.

Despite not the most pleasant visual part, Unturned captivates with deeply developed systems of crafting, skills and survival; and in bonuses you can record a huge and diverse audience of the project.

In fact, any game in which the player is threatened by some external force can be called a "survival" game. After all, if the character dies, you lose, right? However, no one will turn their tongues to include shooters or even roguelikes in this category. The key word in this compilation is not so much "survival" as "simulation". Their main feature in that the player must take care of his condition: build a shelter, dress warmly, get food, and the like. In this case, there may not even be external threats (conditional monsters), but usually they are added for the sharpness of the gameplay. Thus, sandbox elements are often present in survival simulators, but, as you can see, not always. Finally, you will meet both offline and online projects in which the threat also comes from other players. We present you a selection of the best survival simulators on PC, and may the food be with you.

10. The Black Death

Although this game starts in our top from the end, it should be given its due: its setting is unique in its own way. There are many "sandboxes" and "survivors" in the medieval surroundings, but only The Black Death exploits a theme that for some reason everyone else ignores - the plague. You can meet as many zombie infections as you like, and these are, of course, terrible diseases, but they are fictional, while the REAL terrible disease is ignored. It was certainly more difficult to survive in a plague epidemic than in a zombie apocalypse, if only because people had no idea how to treat it at all.

But, as is often the case, good idea came across an average implementation. Yes, the threat of infection in The Black Death is great, but not that deadly; it seems that the characters have undeservedly increased immunity (there is no magic in the game). Yes, you can become a plague doctor in that same mask and try to treat the sick, but this makes little sense, because the game - and therefore the epidemic in it - is endless. Finally, sick NPCs look suspiciously like ordinary living dead. The Black Death could be a much more interesting and hardcore game, but as a result, the plague is present in it more nominally than real.

9. Rust

A short, sonorous, capacious name - sometimes this is enough for the game to receive due attention. Even if this name is translated as "rust". Of course, this motif can be seen in Rust, but only with a decent stretch: you can mine metal in the game, and the metal is covered with rust. But this is not a gameplay aspect, but simply an encyclopedic fact. You can get a lot of other things, and create too, and generally do.

Curiously, over the four years of its existence, Rust has become famous, rather, for bugs and wipes, and not for the gameplay itself. The fact is that all this time the project has existed in early access ... and it seems that it is not going to get out of there. Well, at least not next year. UPD: While the article was being prepared for publication, there was news about the imminent release of the game from Early Access). Players initially raged about the constant reset of progress, and then they got used to it, and some even kindly (or with good irony) fell in love with this feature. Even if they continue to log into Rust and survive despite this, then the game itself will survive. And there, you look, and the release will do. Released, in the end, ARK: Survival Evolved.

8. Wild Eight

Do you know the story about the athletes who crashed in the mountains and were forced to eat human flesh in order to survive? So, The Wild Eight is only partly similar to this story: you need to survive after a plane crash, but you can’t eat your own kind. And it's a pity, because the game has co-op. What could be more pleasant than in a desperate situation to join the battle not on the stomach, but to the death. Although, it turns out, and on the stomach too. Fortunately for some and unfortunately for others, environment in The Wild Eight contains enough resources. You just need to get them, trying very hard not to freeze.

The Wild Eight came close enough to maximum realism: such nonsense can really happen to anyone (who flies planes, of course). However, the developers still decided to add a little mysticism. Some of the creatures lurking in the forest are a bit stranger and far more dangerous than the creatures we are used to. But you can take a chance: in the depths where they live, you can find items that will make survival much more comfortable. However, what would be the point of survival then?

7. The Forest

6. The Long Dark

If games have convinced you that only monsters and other players interfere with survival, then The Long Dark will remind you how wrong you are. Being alone with wildlife can be a much bigger challenge. By the way, one on one is literally: multiplayer is not provided here. But connoisseurs do not need this, since they are able to enjoy the test of will, silence and contemplation. Not individually, but all together.

The Long Dark is a setting immersed in darkness and cold. Animals have generally adapted, but can you? At the easiest level of difficulty - for sure, and you can build, hunt and craft at least indefinitely; dying from cold, starvation or sharp teeth is minimal. However, not everyone survives at the fourth level. What can I say, even experienced craftsmen cannot last long in the hellish cold and on an empty stomach. Death in the game, by the way, is permanent, but this is only in survival mode. Separately, you can go through the campaign, from which you will find out why the world of The Long Dark has become so unfriendly.

5. Hellions

Roughly speaking, there are two types of survival games in a space setting: in outer space itself and on planets. Hellion in our selection is a representative of the first type. You start life on a station with a ship and live through it by building stations and ships. It may sound boring, and the setting is indeed a little monotonous, but humanity really takes a pragmatic approach in space. The main thing is that it works, but how it looks is the tenth thing.

Hellion managed to convey this approach and offer something interesting in terms of gameplay. In particular, players are forced to keep track of things that don't matter in other survival sandboxes. For example, always be aware of the danger of depressurization, fire and radiation, as well as be aware of the oxygen level during spacewalks. Add to this the threat of other players who will only benefit from all these troubles of yours ... if, of course, they themselves have kept track of their performance.

4. ROKH

And here is the second representative, which could well have been interchanged with the previous one - the essence of this would not have changed. ROKH was announced in the wake of The Martian's popularity, but went into early access when that interest had waned. As a result, survival on Mars did not attract as many players as the developers probably hoped. Meanwhile, this project deserves a mention, if only because it is the first survival sandbox on Mars.

Curiously, survival games on Earth do not use a high-tech setting: players need to find a bow and arrow, set up a hut, roast a squirrel, and only after some time, maybe they will get some kind of gun (or rather, they will find it too) . In the case of ROKH, there are so many technologies that at least heaps ... but they need to be able to organize them correctly. Each square meter of shelter is worth its weight in gold, not a single block should be left without energy, oxygen and water, everything must again be airtight. Perhaps one can come to the unsurprising conclusion that survival is difficult for the average person in both primitive and ultra-modern conditions.

3. Conan Exiles

The Conan the Barbarian series is one of the most famous fantasy sagas, and also one of the very first. A huge world full of wonders and colorful characters simply could not fail to appear in computer games ... but for some reason none of them had a major success. This is especially true for online games, in which Conan himself has a very limited presence. These include Conan Exiles, a relatively new contender for the title of a game that, despite a certain amount of doubt, can bring this setting out of oblivion.

The ambitions of Conan Exiles are great: this game is not enough for you to just survive. You can, of course, settle in a shack, eat and drink to your heart's content, but who will do that when there are so many interesting things around? Enslaving unfortunate NPCs, sacrificing to the gods and managing their avatars, building and besieging fortresses are just a small part of the harsh barbaric entertainment. However, you should forget about thirst and cold, heat and hunger ... in general, you either bring replenishment to automatism, or at the decisive moment you find that all your dreams have been covered due to banal inattention.

2.ARK: Survival Evolved

Finally, in the name of at least one game, our keyword! It's immediately obvious: an open-world survival game. It is curious that ARK: Survival Evolved does not bring anything new to the very concept of survival - eat and drink, dress and hide from the weather. However, the developers managed to create such an interesting and unique setting that the players rushed like a stormy river. At first, dinosaurs were a key element of the project, and this even spawned a wave of imitators: mediocre "sandboxes" with ancient dinosaurs. But these copycats haven't moved on as ARK: Survival Evolved continues to evolve.

In particular, the game managed not only not to get stuck in early access, but also to release a collector's edition with a bunch of cool trinkets in honor of the release. The world of ARK: Survival Evolved has received two major expansions, and technology has evolved to cutting-edge heights. Laser guns on the heads of dinosaurs - they thought of this only in the crazy movie "Kung Fury"! The authors of ARK are not going to stop; who knows, maybe in the future we will have space flights ... well, or at least flights into orbit. As they say, when there is nowhere to develop on earth, you need to rush into space.

1. This War of Mine

All games in this collection can be called survival games, and only This War of Mine is a game about HUMAN survival. Human factor is practically not taken into account in any of the projects listed above, except that in Conan Exiles there is a slightly drawn insanity scale. This War of Mine goes to a new level in this aspect: a difficult psychological state can kill even a well-fed and warmed character. Not to mention that in this game it is incredibly difficult to satiate and warm everyone: the number of characters increases, but their requests do not decrease. Brace yourselves: This War of Mine is set in a civil war, with the lion's share of the game experience based on the memories of real people.

Yes, compared to survival in the open world, This War of Mine offers quite limited, in other words, scripted features. Each playthrough of this game is a little different, but some motifs are still repeated from time to time. However, all this is offset by how poignant the atmosphere and plot are here. In the reviews, many admit that the game caused real emotions or even tears. No other game in this top can boast the same.

Finally, This War of Mine is the only game in this top that was made into a board game. This means that her cultural influence has extended beyond the gaming industry. It's strange that there hasn't been a movie or TV series based on This War of Mine yet, but this can be explained by the fact that the topic of the civil war in Yugoslavia (on which it is based) is still too acute.

Conclusion

Based on this selection, we can conclude that the developers are trying not to offer purely hardcore survival. Imagine a game in which your resources are initially limited, in which you have to stretch one can of food for three days and save one bullet for yourself, because leaving the shelter is simply impossible, and opponents threaten not just death, but a slow and painful death. Yes, such a game is possible, but not yet created: the authors prefer to give players space for research, construction and resource extraction. Active gameplay will always outperform passive gameplay, and that's not a good thing or a bad thing, it's just a fact.

There are quite a few games about survival (apocalypse). The most popular theme in this genre is the zombie apocalypse. Not so long ago, games of this genre were transferred to online, which made them much more attractive. After all, surviving in a hostile world with living friends and no less living enemies is much more interesting!

If you are interested in regular (not online) games, then you are here: TOP 10 games about survival. You may also be interested in TOP 10 post-apocalyptic games and TOP 10 zombie games.

This TOP is dedicated to the ten best network online games am about survival. So let's go!

1. DayZ Standalone

An independent version of the well-known mod DayZ, from which the boom of online shooting games with survival, an open world and the ability to wrap skates not only from an enemy bullet, but also from a common cold began.

In this game, there are such lovely things as blackouts, fractures, fatigue, hunger, thirst, and even blood poisoning. And it's far from full list what can happen to you in the game.

There is no health scale, an indicator of the remaining cartridges and other interfaces familiar to us. There are few weapons and supplies, and character customization is needed not so much for beauty as for gameplay. For example, by wearing a jacket, you get additional protection and many pockets for storing the loot you find.

Much can be said about DayZ Standalone, but despite the fact that this is just a preliminary version of the finished game, it can rightfully be considered the most advanced survival game to date.

2. Infestation: Survivor Stories

Quite a successful attempt to grab a piece of the audience from DayZ. But if the latter is more of a survival simulator, then Infestation- this is the most that you can not eat an arcade game. It makes life easier that almost everything in the game - armor, ammo, first aid kits, food and everything you need for a comfortable game - can be bought for real if you want.

Of the benefits - there are veteran servers, a wide selection of weapons. There are several modes, in one of which you need to build fortresses and fight with friends for dominance over the territory. True, it is better to do this on your own server, where no one else with private cheats will come in and arrange a big funeral out of your little fun, followed by the loss of all loot. If we discard all the shortcomings, the game is really worth your time and money.

3. Rust

Made according to the recipe - take a pinch DayZ, add Minecraft and bring to a boil - it deserves the title of the best building and survival game. There is everything that such games lack so much: crafting, resource extraction, hunting, raids and the ability to build everything from a wooden push to tall skyscrapers.

The game is also in alpha testing. It's generally fashionable now to sell unfinished games, and the developers of Rust are now at the top of the fashion wave with all their flying bears and tops biting through walls.

4. Nether

Surviving among the hordes of monsters is not such an easy task. The game Tether shows us in all its glory how difficult it is. But the main enemy, as in any network game, of course, remains a person. In Nether there is an opportunity to create your own clan and fight other players for new territories.

It should be noted that weapons and other items in the game must be collected from various parts and other debris. It is also interesting that on a rather small map there is transport.

Despite the fact that this is an early version of the game, it already makes you fall into its atmosphere and begin to conquer its dangerous wastelands.

5 Survarium

Network shooter from the creators of the very "Stalker: Shadows of Chernobyl". Despite the fact that this game is dearly loved by many and carries the root English word"survival", survival itself is not enough here.

Yes, the game has a wonderful post-apocalyptic atmosphere, and the work of artists is done at the highest level. However, at this stage of development, this is just an advanced PvP shooter on closed maps with no open world.

From the pleasant - there is a pumping of the character's skills, customization and various artifacts that directly affect the game process. Survarium is in beta testing, but the developers still give you the opportunity to enjoy the game before the official release.

6. Left 4 Dead 2

Another undead game that has gained popularity all over the world and has its own take on how to survive in a zombie apocalypse. And you need to survive here dynamically and quickly moving rolls.

Zombies are bursting from all sides, and some of them are especially dangerous. Fortunately, your comrades will be able to come to your aid - if, of course, they want to.

The meaning of the game is to survive as a four-player, making his way through sometimes the most common, and sometimes the most outlandish zombies.

7 Dead Island

One of the few zombie apocalypse survival games that features co-op. In general, the game is based on co-op and is built.

Together with friends or strangers who have connected to you on Steam, you have to go through the plot twists and turns, exterminating bloodthirsty zombies to meet survival. In the game, you can craft various items and collect loot in the course of tasks that you will be given by local NPCs.

Of the benefits - excellent graphics and a lot of stylish characters with their own characteristics. Well, look for the cons yourself - in general, the game is good.

8. 7 Days to Die

A game with very poor graphics and crooked animations settled in seventh place in our TOP.

Despite its shortcomings, many players fell in love with it, because the gameplay 7 Days to Die borrows ideas from Minecraft and the DayZ mod, which makes it quite exciting.

The local story is pretty simple. You are infected with a deadly virus and you have only seven days to live. This is the number of days you have to survive, namely to build, craft and fight off endless waves of zombies.

9.MTA DayZ

Great mod for gta san andreas deserves the attention of all survival games.

Just like in the original zombie apocalypse game, you have to forage, cooperate with the survivors against the undead and other enemies. Bleeding and fractures are also present in this mod, and the weapon system of the characters has been rewritten from scratch.

Of the minuses - poor graphics compared to other projects, which is an order of magnitude worse than in GTA and two orders of magnitude worse than in DayZ. Of the benefits - an open world, although this is nothing new.

10.H1Z1

A game that is only in development and is a clone DayZ and Rust.

In Game H1Z1 they promise a giant map, zombies, cars and a lot of loot, from which later it will be possible to build shelters. All this, however, has already been implemented in the game Infestation, so the developers are unlikely to be able to surprise with something new.

I must say that even in its raw form, the game looks good and causes an irresistible desire to explore its territory. But unfortunately, beta testing is still waiting and waiting.

1. DayZ

The history of this game began as a small addition to another, then even more popular fighting franchise. It is better to make sorties into the camp of the enemy at night, because they go to bed, leaving only a couple of sentries. The franchise has become so popular that a series of books has been released on it, a lot of amateur mini-movies have been shot, and there are also annual gatherings of fans of the game, where they ask the developers to unfreeze the project and create a second part. Their prayers were heard – the Survarium shooter allows you to plunge into your favorite atmosphere, but in a genre that is more popular today with multiplayer elements.

4.

The phenomenon, created by only one programmer, conquered the whole world. Now everyone, from young to old, builds cities for days, creates copies of masterpieces of architecture and masters nuclear physics. Being one of the most popular games in the world, Minecraft is not a representative of the survival genre in full, because. survival here takes place exclusively at night. During the day, you accumulate resources, communicate with good characters and prepare for the night when evil spirits, spiders and other evil spirits appear on the map. On some servers, other players will also create problems for you. Based on Minecraft, multiplayer games were created that are identical to popular board games, and there are also a lot of puzzles and logic tasks using elementary physics.

5.

This is one of the best parts of the franchise about survival in a world that has undergone nuclear war. That's why Fallout 3 is on the list of the best PC survival games of 2016. According to the plot, we must find our father, a brilliant scientist, on whom the future of mankind depends. Along the way, we will meet a lot of different characters, bury a couple of thousand monsters, and also see karma in action - after all, each of our actions and remarks affect the attitude of the world around us. Definitely a must-play for all fans of survival games, although there is not much dynamics here, but there is an extensive character upgrade system.

6.

The world is randomly generated, all you have to do is live as long as possible. There are only 2 possible outcomes - death, as a result of which everything will have to start from scratch, or finding a portal that takes you to the next level. The simplicity lies in the fact that in order to survive in the game you need to eat well, hence the name of the game - do not starve. Just six months ago, an add-on was released that allows you to play online with friends or other owners of a licensed copy, which not only simplifies the gameplay, but also makes it more prone to association than competition.

7. Rust

This computer game about survival is a great example of the fact that now it is gamers who set the trends. The original concept was about surviving in a world with zombies, but in order to offer something new, the idea was changed. We are offered the usual remote wastelands, like those in the north of Canada or Russia. Each server generates a unique environment, sometimes you have to wander for hours looking for other players, fighting wild animals, sometimes you will desperately look for a secluded corner to upgrade your weapons, because there are snipers everywhere.

8. I'm Alive

We are told the story of a guy named Adam, who, after a powerful earthquake, was chained to a hospital bed for a year, after which the first thing he went in search of his daughter and wife. However, the world in which he fell had nothing to do with the former, reigns here natural selection, people are ready to kill for water, food and weapons. The survival aspect of the game is just a convenient way to introduce us to the fantasy world, the game has received a lot of awards for storyline, which will make anyone think about issues of humanity and relationships in a natural disaster.

9.

Another worthy representative of the genre, deservedly considered one of the best survival games on PC in 2016.
Like all representatives of the Alien series, Alien: Isolation is based on the fight against the monster, but now, instead of huge maps, we have at our disposal a small ship stuffed with pirates. Although the bandits are terrified of the monster, they are not happy about your arrival, which greatly complicates the passage. There is very little active action here, the fights pass quickly. The main focus is on survival, you have to think a lot about tactics, predict the outcome of events and carefully monitor your own equipment. For maximum immersion, we recommend playing on highest level difficulties.

10.

Rounding out the list of the best survival games for PC (PC) for 2016 is Left 4 Dead 2. Having played on a successful setting, the developers decided to keep its best aspects, such as first-person play, co-op with friends and a world overrun by bloodthirsty zombies. Of course, a lot of new games have come out in 5 years, but none of them managed to achieve the same atmosphere, when you are really scared, nervous and trying to make decisions as quickly as possible. Particular attention should be paid to custom maps, as the source code is in the public domain and allows fans to set up new challenges for each other. Programming knowledge is not required special utility makes the process simple and intuitive.
