How to clean the well with your own hands. How to clean the water in the well with your own hands. Infrequent use of the well

The service life of a hydraulic structure depends on the quality and regularity of preventive maintenance. Cleaning the well provides for the elimination of existing pollution of the water intake column and the prevention of possible silting of the aquifer.

Knowing how to properly clean the well yourself, you can not involve contractors and save a lot of money.

Possible contaminants and their causes

Before you clean the well in the country with your own hands, you need to determine the types and causes of pollution. The reasons for the deterioration of water quality are determined by the main organoleptic characteristics: color, smell, content of foreign impurities.

There are the following types of pollution:

  • The appearance of water turbidity. This occurs as a result of a decrease in the tightness of the water intake structure and the penetration of surface water into the mine. Verkhovodki saturate drinking water with the smallest particles of sand, clay and dirt, which are layered on the bottom of the structure. Other reasons are clogging of the bottom filter and poor quality of aquifer filtration.
  • The presence of technical and biological debris in the water. The reasons for such pollution are possible deformation and damage to the concrete structure, as a result of which debris penetrates into the aquifer. Another reason is the clogging of the bottom with silt, which prevents the intake of clean water from the mine.
  • Clogging with fallen leaves, broken branches, feathers and other third-party objects. This is due to the lack of . With strong gusts of wind, ground debris can clog into the water intake shaft, which prevents the penetration of clean water into the well. In such a situation, cleaning a private well, as well as disinfecting the structure and the aquifer, will be effective.
  • Changing the color of water. If the water source acquires a dark shade, this indicates an infrequent operation of the facility. If the water turns green, this indicates the reproduction of small algae and protozoa. If the liquid has acquired a reddish tint, this is a sign of an increased level of iron. The main reason is the poor quality of the aquifer.
  • The appearance of an unpleasant smell of sulfur compounds in the water. If the water source begins to smell like rotten eggs and acquires an unpleasant aftertaste, this is the first sign of a structural failure, which leads to seepage of sewage and sulfur compounds from the soil.

Important! If the hydraulic structures are regularly operated throughout the year, then the wells are cleaned every 3 years. If wells are used only in the off-season, then maintenance work is carried out annually in spring and autumn.

Preparatory work and safety rules

Often, site owners do not know how to clean the well correctly, so they do not follow simple safety rules. Before starting work, it is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the basic requirements:

  • Cleaning of wells should be carried out with assistants - one will go down to the bottom of the mine, the second is responsible for supplying the tool, the third is for insurance. In unforeseen situations, assistants must remain on the surface and not go down into the shaft to ensure that the person is lifted from the well.
  • To ensure complete safety during the cleaning process, it is necessary to use a safety rope or cable, regardless of the depth of the structure.
  • All work in the mine is carried out in boots, a helmet and a protective suit.
  • Before cleaning, it is necessary to check the absence of hydrogen sulfide and chloride fumes. This is done as follows: a burning candle is lowered into the shaft, if the flame does not go out, then the oxygen level is high. To eliminate existing gases, you can use a portable potbelly stove, preheated to a low temperature. The furnace is lowered with the blower down and held for some time to bring gases to the surface.
  • If a metal ladder is lowered into the mine for work, it must be equipped with a special support, the rope device is securely attached to the outside of the well.

What is the cleaning of hydraulic structures?

To ensure the high quality of the work carried out, experts recommend using special tools for cleaning wells. The most reliable and affordable of them are filters, which are:

  • Donnymi. Represented by a filter pad made of fine-grained pebbles and sand, covered at the bottom of the intake shaft.
  • Coal. Membrane filters with a carbon base are able to retain large rock particles, and multi-stage filters provide cleaning from silt, chemicals, pesticides, metal salts, lime deposits.

No less effective is the grab - a bucket with movable jaws on a fixing spring. A similar device for cleaning the well allows you to clean the bottom of the structure without going down into it. This happens as follows: the grab in the open form is fixed on the cable and lowered to the bottom. At the moment of a strong impact, the jaws close, capturing bottom sediments, after which the device is removed to the surface. The grapple is cleaned of dirt, the lowering / lifting procedure is repeated several times.

Grab is of three types:

  • manual - for wells and wells of shallow depth. Structurally, it consists of a bucket and a cable;
  • mechanical with a lifting winch. Additionally equipped with a winch and 2-4 cables;
  • deep. Designed for cleaning country wells and wells of great depth.

The most effective in the fight against blockages is a drainage, or mud pump for cleaning wells.

Preventive measures for cleaning the structure

The main task of any owner should be regular preventive cleaning of wells, which will ensure the supply of high-quality water for domestic and household needs. Sanitation of the aquifer is carried out at the end of the winter period, after the snow cover melts.

Effective cleaning involves complete disinfection of the aquifer and hydraulic structures. For this, a weak solution of potassium permanganate is used - 1 tbsp. l. for 10 liters of water. Prepared water is poured to the bottom of the mine. 3 hours after disinfection, we completely pump out the well water.

Manual way to clean the well

Manual cleaning of the well in the country is a complex and responsible process that requires special skill and some knowledge. It is carried out with severe clogging of well water, siltation of the bottom of the mine and the ingress of foreign objects. If the well does not have a great depth, then you can safely proceed to manual cleaning.

How to clean the well in the country by hand? First you need to prepare:

  • boots;
  • protective clothing and helmet;
  • metal bucket;
  • ladder (metal or rope);
  • brushes with hard bristles and soft sponges.

The main work is carried out after the preliminary pumping of water from the mine. For pumping, you can use pumping equipment.

After removing the liquid, you can proceed to the phased cleaning of the structure. The upper part of the structure is thoroughly cleaned with a stiff brush, then the ladder is fixed, after which the lower rings are cleaned on it, creating a reliable stop. When the structure is completely cleared of accumulated contaminants, it can be taken for bottom cleaning of the mine.

The bottom is cleared of debris, stones for drainage are washed with water and laid out again. If there is damage in the concrete structure of the mine, preventive repairs are carried out: cracks and potholes are covered with a solution based on cement and plasticizer.

With strong siltation, the bottom filter is thoroughly cleaned, and poor-quality areas are covered with new material.

As soon as the do-it-yourself cleaning of the well is completely completed, it is recommended to carry out additional disinfection of the aquifer and disinfection of the well structure.

Disinfection measures can be carried out by yourself as follows: dilute a weak 10% bleach solution in a 10-liter bucket and carefully treat the walls of the mine. After processing, cover the structure with a protective cover and leave for a couple of days. Finally, use a pump or pump to pump out the water at least 3 times.

Drainage cleaning of the well using pumping equipment

If there is contamination of the aquifer with pathogenic microorganisms, algae, depressurization of the connecting joints and the penetration of organic debris, then the well is thoroughly cleaned with a drainage pump with preliminary pumping of water.

After the repair and drainage of the well is completed, it is necessary to make a complete disinfection of the mine and the aquifer.

How to make repairs and comprehensive cleaning of the well, see the video presented.

One of the most important well maintenance activities is cleaning and disinfection. Properly performed do-it-yourself cleaning of wells guarantees an increase in the service life of structures and a high quality of the water source.

Cleaning of wells should be carried out regularly in order to ensure the normal condition of drinking water and to ensure that it does not become clogged. There are many tools and cleaning methods for this.

Types of wells in a suburban area

At the moment, there are two types of structures that are used in a suburban area in order to ensure normal life:

  • For water.

Note. They differ in the way they are used and in the way they are cleansed. Look at the photo.

Varieties of structures for water

Well cleaning technology is very diverse. It depends on its type.

To date, two types are popular:

  • Mine.
  • Tubular.

Both that and that type can become clogged, only the ways of their purification are different.

What safety precautions are needed when cleaning

There is an instruction that must be followed when working in wells.

These include the following points:

  • Cleaning must be carried out by at least three people, in case of danger, one person will not be able to pull the other out of the mine.
  • A safety rope must be tied to the belt.

Tip: You should start work only if there are no harmful gases in the well. To verify this, you need to lower a bucket with a lit candle into the mine: there are no harmful gases there if it does not go out at the bottom.

  • When falling from above the tools, you need to cling to the walls.
  • During work, it is better to use wader boots and a construction helmet.
  • You can not stand in one place for too long, this can lead to suction of the legs.

Mine type

mine model

What is a mine structure? This design is quite large in comparison with the tubular one.

It has a hole of a certain diameter:

  • 70-80 cm.
  • 90-100 cm.

It also has a variety of forms.

  • Round.
  • Square.
  • Rectangular.

More:

  • It can be made of plastic or, which are securely fastened together.

Advice. Measures to secure the rings are necessary because in some areas there are permanent ground movements that can damage the structure.

  • They can be on sand or on limestone. It all depends on the depth. As a rule, the average depth of such a structure is 6-8 m. This depth is enough to get water suitable for use.
  • It will also be mandatory to do natural filtration at the bottom of its bottom. It is made from gravel or crushed stone. These natural filters help purify water from metal impurities and rid it of unpleasant odors.

Note. It is also necessary to use additional filter stations, which not only filter the water, but also help to clean the well itself. Thus, the cleaning of the well is carried out much less frequently.

What can cause a mine well to become clogged

The most common type of clogging will be its exposure to weather and climatic conditions. As a result of strong gusts of wind, leaves, sticks and other foreign objects get into it, which cause the process of decay and thereby clog the water.

So:

  • The content of iron in water plays an important role. Here it is possible to get rusty water over time, which is not suitable for use. This problem is solved very simply and quickly. To do this, you need to purchase a special filter and constantly add activated carbon (ground) to the well. It is not harmful to human health and is able to purify any microflora.
  • It is also clogged because the wrong filter is installed in it at the bottom. It may not be the right material, or it may be too thin for the quantity. Water. This problem is also solved very quickly. Everything is replaced after the preparatory work.

Very often, in regions where there are constant displacements of the soil, clay gets into the well. It clogs the water and makes it unusable.

Here it is worth taking very serious measures: pump out completely and dismantle the rings. Then they are installed again and securely fixed with concrete mortar.

How to clean a mine well

Quite often, wells are cleaned on their own. But, if there is no desire or opportunity, then you can turn to specialists in this field. Here it is already worth initially determining the cause of clogging of the water source.

Advice. If, when opening, foreign objects are visible on the surface of the water, it will not be enough to simply remove them from there.

For the operation you will need:

  • Staircase (see).

Tip: If the well is too deep, and one ladder is not enough, you can use a rope, a board is tied to it and a swing is obtained.

  • Belt for insurance.
  • Bucket.
  • Brushes.

For the convenience of work, you can purchase:

  • Device for blocking and lowering.
  • Slings.
  • Block.
  • Drum for moving water to the surface.
  • winch.

More:

  • Cleaning begins with the complete pumping of water from it. This can be done using special equipment - a pump, which has a large selection of products. There are hydraulic pumps that are most often used for these purposes.
  • After the water is completely pumped out, the bottom is cleaned and the filter is replaced. If the filter is natural and consists of crushed stone or gravel, then such layers should be replaced with denser ones.
  • It is also worth cleaning the walls.
  • Cleaning is carried out with iron brushes and high water pressure. We can say that the walls are very well washed out. You can use potassium permanganate or activated carbon for this. These products dissolve in water and do not harm the human body when they enter the body.

Advice. After any cleaning, you need to return the water that has accumulated to the appropriate authorities for verification in order to protect yourself from harmful substances entering the body.

We use a grapple to clean the well

Many people use a grapple to clean wells with their own hands. Then this work is much easier to do.

This is essentially a bucket, but it makes the job much easier. Two blades are provided here, which close when they touch the ground.

  • This design is perfect for cleaning a small well. Here you can lift a mass of garbage of the order of two tons.

Attention: A strong and reliable rope should be used for descent. For reliability, you can use several cables.

  • A winch is used for descent, it greatly facilitates the work and then you will not spend a lot of effort to do the job.

Sand cleaning

The presence of sand adversely affects the quality of water, it becomes cloudy, not suitable for drinking.

To remove sand you will need:

  • Shovel.
  • Ladle.
  • Bucket.
  • Rope ladder.
  • Cord or tape for belaying a person.
  • Rope for attaching a bucket.

Work procedure:

  • The peculiarity of operation is that the structure must be periodically cleaned. Bottom silt or sand cover the bottom and greatly affect the quality. How to clean a well? The method of cleaning the well can be easy or difficult, depending on the complexity of the procedure.
  • When self-cleaning without the use of pumping equipment, the water level should be kept to a minimum to avoid an accident.
  • With the help of a ladle, sand and silt are collected from the bottom, poured into a bucket attached to the belt.

Tip: Do not dig below the initial depth of the device.

  • The bucket goes up along the cable, where two people help to lift it and clean it.
  • In parallel, the walls are cleaned with a brush and, if necessary, a knife. The gaps are sealed with special mortars made on the basis of cement.
  • Sand is removed with a pump.
  • Water is pumped out several times in a row into a pre-prepared barrel or bucket. The disadvantage of this method is the possible deformation of the walls of the well, its subsidence or displacement of the constituent rings.
  • The final stage of cleaning is laying the bottom of the well with stones to a level of 5-10 cm, up to 20 cm is allowed with a rapid flow of groundwater. A wooden shield is laid on top, better from oak, you can use a rigid zinc mesh, which is then sprinkled with a layer of crushed stone or gravel.

How to remove oil stains

To get rid of oil stains:

  • Find out and eliminate the reason why the oil gets inside. It could be fluid leaking from the pump.
  • Without removing water from the well, add an absorbent to the surface of the water and gradually collect the resulting fraction so that the oil film does not settle on the surface of the walls, otherwise it will be much more difficult to remove it and the cost of work will increase much.
  • The water level should be gradually reduced, continue to add absorbent and remove plaque from the surface.

The photo shows an oil film on the surface of the water.

Tip: If the oil has already been in the well for some time, and water was supplied from it to the water supply system of the house, it is necessary to clean all lines for the water supply.

How to eliminate iron taste

Often in the well you can feel an unpleasant smell from iron.

To clean it you need:

  • Perform filtration using special filters, which are usually of a cascade nature, perform operations in stages and are classified as fine filters.
  • Make aeration. In this case, the water is highly saturated with oxygen, which causes the oxidation of iron, and then it precipitates, which requires mandatory removal.
  • Perform coagulation, which consists in the action of special substances on water, they neutralize iron molecules, and then send the entire impurity to the sediment. As a coagulant, you can use aluminum sulfate - white salt.
  • Perform flotation, in which the water is saturated with a substance that causes the “seized” iron to rise to the top. This greatly facilitates the subsequent cleaning of plaque from the surface of the water.
  • Chlorination is the most common method of protection, but bleach must be infused before use.

Water disinfection

After proper cleaning, the water must be disinfected. To do this, you can use 20 percent bleach.

So:

  • To do this, you need to prepare a container. It is advisable to use enamel;
  • Pour chloride water into it, then pour in chloride of lime. In terms of composition, it will be about 200 grams per liter of liquid;
  • Now tightly close the lid on top and defend and then drain the water;
  • Now we take a brush and tie it to a stick, we should be long enough to reach the bottom of the well. We do the processing of the walls;
  • After adding water to the well, this solution is added to the water. Stir with a long stick;
  • We let the water stand for a while and after that you just need to pump it out. She's not drinkable. We do this until the smell of bleach disappears.

The cleaning of the Abyssinian well is carried out using special filter stations. Initially, the water is completely pumped out, and subsequent sets of it are also subject to pumping. It will be possible to use only the third or fourth set of water and it is desirable to give it for examination for suitability for use.

tubular well

A tubular well is a smaller structure in a suburban area. It is constructed from plastic pipes with a dense structure and a small diameter.

They are inserted into the well. As a rule, such a structure does not have a bottom, since wells of this type are drilled to a very great depth, where there are no metal impurities in the water and other harmful substances.

So:

  • It may not be deep. Its depth reaches 80 m. But this is only if an artesian source of water is needed. So it will be enough to use water at a depth of up to 10 m.

Advice. The depth depends on the location of the aquifer on the site and it may differ even from the adjacent well, since the location of the earth layers may change.

  • It will also be mandatory to use different filter stations. There are a lot of them at the moment.
  • Do-it-yourself cleaning of wells of this type is quite rare, since there is no way to see what caused the clogging of the water source. Professionals use special equipment - pumping and filtering stations.

Advice. It will also be appropriate to take the water for analysis after cleaning.

It will be appropriate to use not one, but several filter stations in the well. The filters in them are very easy and simple to replace, and you need to perform such actions regularly. Each device of this type has a special instruction, according to which all actions are performed.

Causes of clogging of tubular wells

The main cause of clogging will be that water is not constantly drawn into it. This is due to the fact that in most cases summer residents do not live all year round in the country.

Water is not collected with the same intensity in autumn or winter. The residue begins to flood, and thereby clogs the filtration stations.

Advice. If it is not possible to constantly pump water from the well in the winter or autumn season, then it is best to remove the filters and pumping stations at this time.

So:

  • Another reason would be that debris gets into the well. The mine well also has such a cause of clogging. Leaves and other rotting products get into it, which cause not only siltation of water, but also clogging of filters.
  • Installing the wrong equipment also causes clogging of the well. An improperly selected filter station at the bottom of the well can cause excess unfiltered water with various impurities and an unpleasant odor to enter.

Advice. In order for tube wells, which are more difficult to clean than shaft wells, last longer and have a clean source of water, the diameter of the pipe must match the size of the filter station. It shouldn't be more or less.

Soil displacement also causes clogging of the well in such a well. Sand or clay as a result of the movement of the layers of the earth fall into it. To prevent this from happening, the construction pipe and the bottom with the filter must be well processed with special means.

How to clean a tube well

You can clean it yourself or invite professionals in this field.

For this are used:

  • Pumping stations that pump water from the bottom of the well.
  • filter stations.
  • Chemical substances.
  • natural filters.

Used for such work, mainly drainage pumps. But here it is worth considering that they can very quickly become clogged from any debris, and to avoid this, you just need to clean the well first from foreign objects.

Cleaning cost:

  • How much does a well cleaning cost? It all depends on the organization itself. But this does not mean that if the cost of services is very cheap, their quality will also be poor. It all depends on the complexity of the purification itself and on what equipment is used for this.
  • Well cleaning - the cost will be cheaper for individuals who also know the principles of the structure of any structure and the reasons for their clogging.

The video in this article shows how to clean the well yourself.

sewer types

Sewer wells also require constant cleaning.

They are built from:

  • Concrete.
  • Brick.
  • Reinforced concrete.
  • Plastic rings and other similar materials.

Let's take a closer look:

  • Clogging them can only be waste products. All sewage from the house goes to the sewer.

Advice. So that sewer wells that are already overflowing do not cause clogging of the surrounding area (gardens, flooding of the house, and so on), septic tanks, which may have several chambers, must be used for their construction.

  • Cleaning of sewer structures is not carried out manually. It can only be performed with special equipment. Then the septic tanks can be cleaned independently.

The price for such services depends on what equipment is being cleaned. This is done by specialized companies.

The quality of drinking water is essential to health. Therefore, you need to carefully monitor the condition of the points of its fence. In the last article we talked about, now let's talk about cleaning. Cleaning a well or well is a simple matter, but you should know all the subtleties of this work and the sequence of its stages.

How to understand that the well needs cleaning

Regardless of what material the mine is made of, deposits of organic matter and silt inevitably accumulate on its walls. They are a source of an unpleasant smell of water and steadily destroy the walls of the well. If the mine is extremely deep (more than 25 m), it is recommended to contact specialists to restore its full functioning. Smaller wells can be cleaned with your own hands using different tools.

Signs of silting and contamination of the well:

  • a significant decrease in the water level;
  • the presence of foreign objects in the mine (animals, birds, garbage, etc.);
  • lack of transparency of drinking water and change in its color;
  • the presence of an unpleasant odor, which can increase when the liquid is heated;
  • change in the taste of water;
  • visible destruction of the walls of the mine.
If the points of water intake and discharge of wastewater are located close to each other (closer than 15 m), the condition of the water must be carefully monitored and regularly sanitized. The spring period is of particular importance. During the melting of snow, particles of organic matter from the surface of the earth inevitably enter the groundwater. In addition, there is a high risk of sewage entering the mine.

Sanitizing the deck

Work on the disinfection of drinking water is carried out with their own hands using disinfectants. The easiest and most accessible way for everyone is as follows:
  1. In a 10-12 l bucket, dissolve 1 teaspoon of potassium permanganate or an Aquatabs tablet.
  2. Poured into a well.
  3. Expect 30-40 minutes.
  4. They pump out dirty water and wait for the well to be filled with new and clean water.
It is extremely important to perform the pumping process correctly. During the sanitation period, water should not be completely removed. It is necessary to leave a layer 50-60 cm high from the bottom. Otherwise, silt will rise and additional cleaning of the mine will be required. Water purification from the well is carried out 1-2 times a year.

Which pump to use

If cleaning of wells for the spring period is not planned, you should not use vibration pumps to pump water. They will inevitably raise silt and will contribute to the shedding of organic matter and clay deposits from its walls into the mine. Therefore, centrifugal pumps are the best choice. Most summer residents use "Baby" or "Brook" to provide water supply. These pumps are classified as vibration-type devices, so they are not suitable for sanitizing the well.

If there is no centrifugal pump, water is pumped out with buckets. This is the best way to ensure the long life of the water intake point.

Self-cleaning the well: instructions

The owner of the dacha is not always able to invite specialists to his place. Therefore, it is important for every gardener to know how to clean the well with their own hands.

The order of work is as follows:

  1. Visual inspection of the well and development of an action plan.
  2. Preparation of necessary materials, devices and disinfectants.
  3. Organization of providing free access to the mine.
  4. Water pumping.
  5. Cleaning the walls of the mine.
  6. Carrying out repair work.
  7. Bottom washing.
  8. Disinfection.

Do-it-yourself cleaning of the well provides for strict adherence to safety measures. This is the first thing you need to familiarize yourself with before starting work. It is important to follow these guidelines:
  1. It is desirable to clean the well with a team of three people (the first one goes down, the other passes buckets and tools to him, the third ensures safety).
  2. If work is carried out at the bottom, you need to periodically change your location, since the suction process inevitably occurs.
  3. Before descending into the mine, they check for the absence of hazardous gases. For this purpose, a burning candle is carefully lowered into the well. If it goes out, work cannot be carried out. To remove gases from the mine, a fabric cloth with ropes tied to its corners is used. Two people evenly lower and raise it until the full release of gases. If there is a powerful fan, the process will be faster.
  4. With the person who is in the mine, it is necessary to constantly maintain a conversation, trying not to miss the moment of a possible deterioration in his well-being.
  5. Work is carried out using a safety belt.

Preparatory stage

How to clean a well without endangering yourself? Having prepared and checked all the tools necessary for this work. You can refer to the following list:
  • stairs for descending into a shallow mine;
  • strong rope;
  • a tripod, which will be required to facilitate the process of lowering and raising the buckets;
  • a metal brush firmly fixed on a long wooden or metal handle;
  • scrapers, rags;
  • waders;
  • buckets with a capacity of 5-8 liters (larger ones are difficult to work with);
  • cement-sand mortar for sealing destroyed joints (if the well is made of concrete rings);
  • vibration or drainage pump;
  • gravel or crushed stone of medium fraction (diameter of stones 20-40 mm) for filter installation at the bottom of the mine.
Since it is not difficult to clean the well yourself, many do not pay due attention to the preparation of tools and fixtures. This is a serious mistake that could lead to an accident. So, if you do not check for strength and do not strengthen the bows of the buckets, when lifting the filled container to the surface, it can break off and cripple the person inside the well.

Pay special attention to the strength of ropes and ladders. Check them out ahead of time.

Cleaning the well in the country with a drainage pump

The drainage pump is rational to use in the spring or rainy summer period. At this time, the top water, saturated with garbage and organic matter, penetrates into the well. The pump must be very powerful and able to work continuously for 3-5 hours. Even a short break is undesirable. Do-it-yourself well cleaning is done in the same way.

Sequencing:

  1. Two pumps are simultaneously lowered into the mine: drainage and vibration. The first will raise silt and sand from the bottom. The second is necessary for pumping dirty water to the surface.
  2. The drainage pump is suspended at a distance of 40-50 cm from the bottom and fixed in this position.
  3. The vibration pump is periodically raised to the surface and the filters are cleaned.
If you work in this mode for 2 hours, at least 10 cm of bottom sediment is removed. Then they begin to clean the walls of the well without going down into it. For this purpose, scrapers are used, mounted on a pole or wire of large cross section. When the shaft is filled with water again, it is pumped out using a vibration pump.

The traditional way to clean a shallow well

Cleaning a well with your own hands is a laborious process. Such work is classified as capital and is performed in case of severe contamination of the mine. The method can be used for any wells: wooden and concrete rings. Work is carried out in the country with their own hands, but with the involvement of assistants.

Prepare tools and fixtures in advance, provide a place for water drainage. The first stage is pumping out. To complete the task, any type of pump is suitable: vibration and centrifugal. Automation of the process allows you to pump out water as quickly as possible: in 10-20 minutes.

Do-it-yourself cleaning of the well is carried out as the water decreases. Deposits from the upper part of the mine walls are removed with a long-handled brush. Then they install a solid ladder and go down into the well. As the water level drops, inspection and sealing of seams are carried out.

Having reached the bottom, they take out the filtration layer with buckets. On the surface, it is washed and reloaded into the well. If necessary, a new sand and gravel filter is installed. For small-capacity wells, a layer 15-20 cm thick is sufficient. Small stones are placed in the lower part of the filter, and larger ones in the upper part. To disinfect the walls of the mine, disinfectant solutions are used using potassium permanganate and bleach (20 g per 10 l bucket).

When the work on cleaning the walls of the mine is completed, it is necessary to wait for the water to rise and pump it out. This is done several times. Periodically check the quality of water, examining its transparency, taste and smell. It should be noted that in the presence of a viscous loose bottom and the absence of a filtration layer, the mine will be stably filled with muddy water. It is necessary to wait for the sedimentation of particles of sand and silt.

Purification of water from a well with a strong odor is carried out in this way: a disinfectant solution is poured into the shaft and covered with dense polyethylene, “sealed”. After 12 hours, the water is pumped out and the walls are washed with a hose stream. The process is repeated several times.

The complexity of cleaning the well depends on the degree of contamination and the design of the well itself. Of course, the availability of tools and equipment for such a procedure plays a role. Therefore, think through all the steps and only then proceed to clean the well, and also do not forget to do the right one so that dirt and debris get into it less.

The real heart of the site is the well. Its proper operation is especially important when there is no running water to the house. It is the well in this case that is the source of drinking water for the owners of the house and the breadwinner for the plants in the garden. The water in the spring must be transparent, safe for health and clean. Thanks to free access to useful information, it is a solvable task today.

Causes of pollution

A well is not a natural reservoir, but a creation of human hands, for this reason, nature takes care of the structure to the best of its ability, but do not forget about periodic maintenance. If you feel that the shade of the water has changed, and the taste has worsened, then you need to clean the well. When problems like this arise along with uncharacteristic sediment and bad odors, you should consider doing the cleaning yourself. The following phenomena can lead to such problems: violation of an excess of sunlight, irregular operation, as well as the wrong selection of materials for the construction of a spring.

If you are interested in the question of how much it costs to clean the well, then you will have to pay about 8,000 rubles for this. It will be much cheaper to cope with the work on your own, while it is important to know that the sealing of the seams and constituent elements may be broken. In this case, soil particles can get inside, which negatively affect the transparency of the water. Such problems often occur after the snow melts or as a result of prolonged rains. You can solve the situation quite simply, for this, the holes and seams are inspected, and after that the master makes them impenetrable.

Sun protection

It may also be necessary to clean the well in cases where it is exposed to an excessive amount of sunlight. Because of this, microorganisms are able to activate, and the water begins to bloom, acquiring a greenish tint. In this case, cleaning work may not be necessary. Initially, you need to try to make a canopy or protect the well from exposure to the sun. It also happens that it is used irregularly, while the water is saturated with organic substances. A similar problem occurs from time to time for every owner of the spring. You can correct the situation by disinfecting the well. But the prevention will be its constant use.

Purification technology

The well may need to be cleaned if improperly selected materials were used during the construction process. Professionals do not recommend using materials of organic origin for and wells. This can lead to the penetration of nitrogen compounds into the water, as a result of which the water acquires a sweetish aftertaste. In this case, it may be necessary not only to clean the structure, but also to completely rebuild it. In any case, these works cannot be called simple, they are laborious and monotonous. As soon as you carry out these manipulations yourself, you can determine which technology is most suitable. Next time this process should take less effort and time.

Professionals advise focusing on a certain order of work, which provides for the acquisition of tools and necessary funds at the first stage. Further, free access to the mine is provided, and its visual inspection is carried out. It will not be possible to do without pumping out water; after that, dirt and the resulting mucus are washed off the walls of the structure. The next step will be the elimination of moss and mold, but the bottom is cleared of foreign objects and debris. We must not forget about the removal of sludge, as well as washing and replacing the bottom filter. The drainage is removed and a new one is laid, which consists of river fine-grained pebbles and quartz sand.

Sealing

When you have decided, you will need to process the seams, sealing small cracks and holes with liquid glass. Sometimes cement mortar is used for this purpose. Cleaning is an excellent reason to fix the rings, which will not be able to move in relation to each other. Disinfection is carried out at the last stage, if you wish, you can carry out the reconstruction or construction of the outer part of the well, namely a canopy or a house.

For reference

If the depth of the well is quite impressive, then it is absolutely impossible for a person with heart disease to go down. This is due to the fact that there may be a lack of oxygen at the bottom. It is best to entrust these works to someone from the household or specialists whose services you can use at an affordable cost.

Preparatory stage

Cleaning wells on their own begins with preparation, for this the owners must make sure that all the tools and tools necessary for the work are at hand. It is important to prepare a ladder, a pump, a winch, as well as a sufficiently strong rope. You will need mixtures and compositions for the work, as well as devices for cleaning the walls.

People involved in cleaning must use personal protective equipment, namely construction boots and helmets. If you plan to go down into the shaft, you will need a ladder. It can be rope or ordinary, it depends on the structure of the well. You should not start such work if you have not prepared the device for blocking and descent. We must not forget about the need to use restraining slings. The master will need a safety belt, as well as buckets. If the length of the stairs is not enough, then you can make special swings that will come in handy for the descent. They can be made from the strongest rope.

Security measures

Cleaning of wells must be carried out taking into account certain safety recommendations. Thus, it is necessary to use the help of two companions who will be nearby. Such a safety net is necessary in case of an emergency rise. It will be impossible to cope with the forces of one person. The clothes of the master descending down should be distinguished by water-repellent characteristics. Will be needed Do not start work unless you have discussed a plan of action.

A safety cable is tied to the belt, while making sure that there is no accumulation of harmful gases in the mine. For this, a candle is used, which sinks to the bottom when lit. If the wick continues to burn, then everything is in order. The master is advised not to stand for a long time at the bottom of an uncleaned well, as his legs may begin to suck.

Work methodology

If you are thinking about how to clean it, then you should equip yourself with the help of two people, only after that you can get down to business. It is possible that before these works the canopy will have to be temporarily dismantled. It is recommended to build it taking into account this feature of the work. Next, the shaft is cleaned with a pump, only before that, debris is removed from the surface of the water, which may be in the hose of the unit. However, on sale today you can find devices that are not afraid of clogging. It does not matter which model of pumping equipment will be used, experts recommend purchasing or renting a unit with a float. A similar model turns off on its own after the water runs out. This will prevent the device from overheating and idling.

If you are faced with the question of how to properly clean the well, then initially you should familiarize yourself with the technology in more detail. After pumping out the water, you can start cleaning the walls. To do this, everything superfluous is removed from their surface, such as mold, mucus, dirt and other formations. Under no circumstances should chemicals be used for this. At the disposal of the master - brushes and sponges, as well as any other mechanical means.

The next step is to clean the bottom, which is called a bottom filter. The old composition is washed or removed altogether. If you decide to use the last solution, then you have to lay a new filter. The thickness of its layer should be equal to 10 centimeters or more. If the bottom is sufficiently viscous and mobile, the pillow can occupy 50 centimeters of the shaft.

After carrying out all the above work, it is necessary to analyze the condition of the walls, seams and other joints, which must be tight. If they are deformed, then work should be done to seal the holes with cement or liquid glass. Disinfection will complete all manipulations, during which the bottom and walls should be treated with 10% bleach. After that, the mine is covered with a lid and a tarpaulin. In this state, the structure must be left for 48 hours. After completion of operations, the water is pumped out twice.

Cleaning with a drain pump

Many owners of country houses are wondering how to clean the well without going down into it. To do this, you can use a drainage pump, which should not be low-power. Otherwise, poor-quality water will remain inside, and clogging will progress. The process consists in the fact that the pump is lowered on average to a depth of 0.5 meters from the bottom or more. After it, you must turn it on and begin the process of cleaning from dirt. Strong pressure will throw water back into the well, raising silt deposits. The equipment must be lifted from time to time to clean the filters. Groundwater in the well must be cleaned according to this method several times until deposits cease to form on the surface of the filter.

No matter how well the well is built, after a while it will need to be cleaned - the water becomes cloudy and with an unpleasant aftertaste. Knowing how to clean the well with your own hands, you don’t have to worry that the water will become unusable.

When is a well cleaned?

A cloudy color, an unpleasant smell and taste are all signs of contamination of the water in the well. When they appear, the well must immediately be cleaned, and before that, water should be used only for household needs.

Water pollution in a well can often be determined even visually.

Before you start cleaning, you need to find out the causes of cloudy water and the appearance of a smell. It could be:

  • depressurization of the seams between the rings. A top water with parts of rock (clay and sand) enters the well and the water becomes cloudy;
  • neglect of the well shaft. If you leave it open, then debris and insects will fall into the water. Also, under the influence of sunlight, microorganisms actively develop and the walls of the mine turn green, and with them the water;
  • ingress of sewage into the water - the water becomes unpleasant in taste and smell.

In the first two cases, manual cleaning of the well will help. In the third - it is necessary to look for the root cause - sewage, cesspools in the immediate vicinity of the well.

Well design

Before starting work on cleaning the well, it is necessary to study its design and depth. Most often, wells are built using concrete rings, which are lowered as the soil is excavated at the bottom.

Scheme: well device

The rings themselves are fixed together with metal brackets, and the seams are smeared with cement mortar.
A bottom filter is arranged at the bottom of the well - this is a mixture of gravel, coarse sand and crushed stone.
The purpose of cleaning the well is to remove plaque from the walls (concrete rings) and flush the bottom filter (and, if necessary, replace it).

Well cleaning methods

There are two ways to clean a well:

  • manually - a rather laborious process, but sometimes you can’t do without it;
  • using a drain pump is an easier way, but a powerful pump is required.

In addition, it is necessary to regularly carry out preventive cleaning and disinfection of the well.

Well disinfection

After any type of cleaning, as well as for prevention purposes, it is necessary to disinfect the well. The main methods of disinfection are using a solution of bleach and potassium permanganate.

Disinfection of water in the well can be carried out with potassium permanganate or bleach

If disinfection is carried out with bleach, then the following steps must be followed:

  • the volume of water in the well is calculated, for this the cross-sectional area is multiplied by the value of the water level to the bottom.
  • water is completely pumped out; - preparing a chlorine solution - 20 grams of powder per liter of water;
  • the walls of the mine are wiped or sprayed with the resulting solution;
  • while the well is filling with water, another solution is being prepared - already in a proportion of 200 mg. for every litre;
  • the chlorine solution is poured into the well (without sediment that forms at the bottom), mixed and left for 12 hours. At the same time, the head of the well must be well covered so that chlorine does not evaporate.

After 12 hours, the water from the well is pumped out several times until the smell of chlorine disappears.

Important! After treating the well with bleach, raw water from it cannot be drunk for 2 weeks. After this time, it is better to give it for analysis to a chemical laboratory.

When using potassium permanganate, the principle of action remains the same, but it is enough to pump out the water only twice. This method is rather weak and does not guarantee complete disinfection.

The process of disinfecting the well with a solution of potassium permanganate

Another important point is that it is necessary to foresee in advance where the water from the well will drain. If I drive with potassium permanganate, you can pour it into the garden, and it will even be useful, then this cannot be done with bleach. It is necessary to drain into a cesspool or take the hose away from the site.

Cleaning the well by hand

Do-it-yourself cleaning of the well begins with pumping out water. Of course, you can do this with buckets, but this is a very difficult task that will take a lot of time. It is better to use a powerful pump that will cope with the task in a few minutes.
For cleaning you will need:

  • ladder;
  • scraper or brush for metal on a long handle;
  • sponge;
  • buckets;
  • "waders.

After the water is pumped out, a ladder is installed in the well shaft and, from top to bottom, the rings are gradually cleaned of plaque with a scraper.

The process of cleaning the well manually

When the surface part is cleaned, you can proceed to cleaning the bottom filter. To do this, gravel, sand and silt are collected from the bottom in buckets and rise up.

Important! Since the bottom of the well is unstable, it is impossible to stay in one place for a long time, so you can get bogged down in the slurry. During work, one person must always be upstairs with insurance.

After cleaning the bottom, a new bottom filter is created - gravel, coarse sand and gravel are poured in layers.
If the seams between the rings are damaged and surface water flows through them, then they must be resealed. This can be done with the same solution of cement and sand that was used in the construction of the well.
At the end of all work, the well is disinfected.
Manual cleaning can be done not only in critical cases, but also for prevention - once every two years.

Cleaning the well with a drainage pump

If you do not want to clean the well manually, you can use a drainage pump. It will allow you to organize circulation, thereby removing contaminated water and forcing clean water.

Cleaning a well with a drainage pump

It is necessary to start work with the selection of a pump of sufficient power. If it is too weak, then it will not work to clean the well. Then you need to do the following:

  • the drain pump sinks to the bottom. First you need to build a stand that will not allow it to fall into the silt;
  • a pressure hose is lowered into a previously prepared container on the surface. It can be a bath or a barrel of water;
  • the drainage pump is turned on, the liquid is pumped out of the well, and the walls of the shaft are washed with water from the tank under pressure.

The procedure can be repeated several times until the water becomes clear. Then the mine is disinfected.

Preventive well cleaning

Preventive cleaning of the well should be carried out annually, at the end of the winter period. Water may not have visible flaws, but, nevertheless, it is better to play it safe and do the work.
It is produced using a solution of potassium permanganate - 1 tablespoon per bucket of water. One bucket will be enough - it is poured into the mine and left for 2-3 hours. After that, the water is completely pumped out 2 times.

Preventive purification of water with a weak solution of potassium permanganate

Such cleaning of the well is recommended after the snow melts and floods. If you hurry, then precipitation and perched water can get into the well water, which will make the work pointless.
Also, cleaning may be required in case of stagnant water. This is typical for dachas where the residence is seasonal. At the beginning of each season, water must be pumped out.

Well Cleaning Precautions

In any embodiment - manual cleaning, or using a pump, safety measures must be observed. This includes:

  • cleaning should be carried out by at least three people - two on the surface and one in the mine; - a worker in a mine must be tied with a safety rope and have a helmet;
  • if a ladder is used, then it must be installed on a support platform that will not allow it to sink into the sand;
  • a worker who is in the mine should not be in one place for a long time, since there may be quicksand or quicksand at the bottom, which will tighten;
  • it is impossible to stay at the bottom of the mine for a long time, since there is a lack of oxygen there. At the slightest indisposition of a person in the well, it is necessary to raise him to the surface.
