Meanwhile, the "Polar Bear" more than once got into prosecutorial releases and news reports in connection with scandals, the heroes of which were representatives of the administration of the colony. In 2010, the prosecutor's office of Yamal revealed violations of the penitentiary legislation in pre-trial detention center No. 1 IK-8. The situation in the "Polar Bear" worries not only the prisoners, but also those who are "on the other side of the barbed wire." In July 2012, the district prosecutor's office, during an inspection of IK-8, discovered violations of the law on countering extremism and terrorism. The library of the colony did not have a list of extremist materials, and no reconciliation of funds and newly incoming literature with this list was carried out. In March of this year, the administration of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug officially announced that the Lokosovo colony would be closed due to its economic inefficiency.
